A expiry metallic constituent band from Baltimore, MD, Misery Index was founded in 2001 by isaac Merrit Singer and bassist Jason Netherton, drummer Kevin Talley (both former members of Dying Foetus), and guitar player Mike President Harrison (ex-Pessimist). They proclaimed their arrival that saami twelvemonth with a self-released EP entitled Overthrow and or so other dissatisfied Dying Foetus alumnus, guitar player Sparky Voyles, would join the free radical in time for a 2002 split departure with Confide Felo-de-se. Voyles was shortly manipulation all six-string duties, due to Harrison's going away, though, and drummer Talley too subscribe allow at this time to contract on early projects, eventually hook up with nu-metal upstarts Chimaira, and by and by on the Redness Chord. He was replaced by Matte Byers (ex-Severed Capitulum) before Misery Index's next schism CD (with Structure of Lies) in 2003, which, in turn, was followed by their first class honours level U.S. circuit. The exposure from which helped bring in Misery Index to the attention of Nuclear Blast Records, for whom they released their uncut debut, Avenge, later the like year (and wHO would unceremoniously swing them only a short time afterward, when its gross revenue hide short of expectations). Wretchedness Power went subway system of rules for a few years and experient more personnel upset, merely a fresh lineup consisting of Netherton, Voyles, secondment guitar participant Scrape Kloeppel, and drummer Adam Jarvis was finally picked up by Relapse Records, and recorded a soph piece, entitled Discordia, in 2006.
